This past week, in teaching on the Ten Commandments, I had the privilege of explaining the powerful and precious truth of how each of us can be set free from the curse of sin through the blood of Christ. This reality is highlighted in Galatians 3 explains both the curse of the law and our redemption from that curse:

(Gal 3:10) For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

(Gal 3:13-14) Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

God promised to Abraham that in him all the families of the earth shall be blessed. (Gen. 12:3c) That blessing is fulfilled in the “spotless lamb”, Jesus Christ, who replaced our curse with the blessing of forgiveness of our sin, by taking this curse on Himself. This truth was exemplified in Exodus 12 when the Passover was instituted.

Every day, may we awake with gratitude for God’s love shown to us through giving His Son. The hymn writer of “Beneath the Cross of Jesus” put it this way:
“And from my smitten heart, with tears, these wonders I confess: the wonder of His glorious love, and my unworthiness.”

Blessings in Christ,
