“Show me YOUR WAYS, O LORD!” This is a prayer of David found in Psalm 25:4. What a wonderful prayer that God wants each of us to pray. In preparing for the VBS, “Moses: God’s Servant”, I am reminded of how God showed Moses His ways. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. (Psalm 103:7) Some of those ways are described in the Song of Moses in Exodus 15:1-21, when God delivered the Israelites from the pursing Egyptians. (Exodus 15:2 will be the theme song for our VBS.) A part of this song is given in Revelation 15:3-4:

They sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.”

The prophet Isaiah calls to the people,

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. (Is. 55:7-8) Thus, it is no wonder that Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6)

Yes, there is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. (Prov. 14:12) This is the world’s way. Frank Sinatra sang a song entitled “I Did It My Way”. How sad! This “my way or the highway’ thinking does not deliver what it promises.

So let’s pray Psalm 25:4 along with David and see how God graciously answers our prayers.
