Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:14-17:

   You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them;

   And that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

   All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

   That the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:14-17).

Vacation Bible School is an opportunity for us to teach the sacred writings – the Scriptures – to our children, as well as reach out to children who do not regularly attend a Bible-teaching church.  I like to think of VBS as a one-week Bible conference for children.  Our prayer is in accord with Paul’s words to Timothy; namely that as the children hear and read God’s Word that it will give them the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.  We also pray that these young minds and hearts will be convinced beyond doubt that the Bible is indeed the word of God – all of it – and that it is God’s means for equipping them to do anything He calls them to do in life.

It’s already been a rich blessing to see our church family come together in every area of presentation to teach and model Biblical truth to the good number of children God has brought to us this week: singing, drama, Bible lessons, Scripture memory, crafts, application of the lesson that includes giving each child the opportunity to hear the gospel, games, relax time with snacks to meet more personally with the children, and even giving of money for the outreach project to reach people around the world in desperate situations with food and the gospel.  Thank you to those who are praying daily for this ministry.

Yours and His,
Pastor Ed
